AFEdemy role in the project:

AFEdemy will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the quality of the intermediate results according to experiences in the European countries. We will collect ideas and develop a report about the sustainability of the project results once the project is finished. We will also be involved in the project communication plan.

Description

The AGE-FRIENDLY TOOLKIT project aims to open a broad exchange of views among stakeholders in ageing, to define a training curriculum for the new profile “Professional of reference for inclusive ageing in age-friendly cities” and to develop a set of open educational resources that can be used  in vocational education and training and which remain freely available on the internet.

Objectives

The main objective of the project is to propose a new “age-friendly cities reference professional” training curriculum and a set of open educational resources that will be freely available on the Internet for implementation in VET (vocational education and training) programs in the participating countries.

The training competencies will consist of a relevant set of cross-cutting issues such as advocating for the rights of older people, promoting participation, improving intergenerational cooperation, promoting community care, improving the silver economy, and improving the management of age-friendly cities at the local level.

The specific objectives of the project are as follows:

  • To define the learning outcomes needed in age-friendly cities linked to a set of key cross-cutting themes such as rights, participation, intergenerational solidarity, health and long-term care, silver economy, and management of age-friendly cities.
  • To create a training curriculum for the new professional figure of “reference professional for inclusive ageing in age-friendly cities” with the common reference of European instruments such as Europass, and the European Qualification Framework level 4.
  • To develop a set of learning contents to be implemented in an open educational toolkit, based on an educational application and an e-learning course, which will be available for free on the Internet
  • Test the educational toolkit with the project target groups in the participating countries in order to optimize it taking into account educational, digital, social and sustainable approaches.
  • Disseminate the results to educational decision-makers, municipalities, training providers, NGOs, etc. in the EU context.

Target group

The direct target groups are:

  • Teachers, trainers, and students in VET (vocational education and training) programs.
  • Decision-makers in the field of vocational education and training.
  • Municipalities working on the implementation of an age-friendly cities strategy.
  • Older people’s organizations and NGOs working on age-friendly environments and inclusive communities.
  • VET providers: a school, institute, or other organization providing vocational education and training offering a combination of school-based learning and a strong work-based component (work placements).

Indirect target groups:

  • Healthcare professionals and social services at the local level.
  • Formal and informal caregivers.
  • Volunteers in municipalities and social organizations.
  • Older people and their families.

Workplan “AGE-FRIENDLY TOOLKIT”

The AGE-FRIENDLY TOOLKIT project proposes to open a wide-ranging exchange of information among age-friendly cities, seniors’ organizations and educational and training experts in order to define a training CV for the new professional profile of “Professional of reference for inclusive ageing in age-friendly cities”, that will be a reference for developing a set of open educational resources to spread learning content of the ageing strategy in the framework of age-friendly cities in participant countries.

To define a new professional profile and a training curriculum for inclusive development in age-friendly cities the partners will identify a set of knowledge, skills and competencies for the new professional profile of “Reference Professional for inclusive ageing in age-friendly cities”. The partners will organize several workshops to define the training CV referring to a set of cross-cutting themes.

The results from the previous activities will be used create and test an educational toolkit for the development of age-friendly cities. This educational toolkit will include the learning outcomes described in the training curriculum for the new figure of “Reference professional for inclusive ageing in age-friendly cities’’. The partners will develop and test a set of open educational resources through an educational app and an eLearning course.

Project results

  • A map of competencies, a set of learning outcomes for the profile of “professional of reference in inclusive age-friendly cities”.
  • A training curriculum to be implemented in VET programs in participant countries.
  • A set of open educational resources (educational app and e-learning course) free available on the internet, for the development of age-friendly cities.
  • Piloting experiences to test results with the target groups.
  • A multilingual website, newsletter, booklets with the results.
