What is DigitalScouts and its European Compendium?
The #DigitalScouts project aims to train individuals who want to support older adults in using digital tools to empower them to benefit from digital health promotion as well as cultural activities online.
Why is it important?
Improving the digital skills of people aged 60+ enhances communication, as well as social and political participation in a digital era. It enables access to information and services, such as digitalised healthcare services. Therefore, education on how to use technology is essential to ensure usage, safety, and data security.
The “European Compendium of good practice examples of digital participation of people 60+” – one of the project results!
Led by AFEdemy, the project partners developed a European Compendium combining information on the topic which is based on the National Reports written by the partner organisations ISIS Institut für Soziale Infrastruktur and BerufsWege für Frauen e. V. Wiesbaden for Germany, Österreichisches Rotes Kreuz for Austria, SHINE 2Europe for Portugal, Asociația GEAC for Romania and AFEdemy, age-friendly environments academy for the Netherlands!
The European Compendium provides an overview of digital skills and internet usage across European partner countries. This enables a comparison of the five project partner countries, highlighting their differences. Additionally, it offers a guide through the necessary steps for a training offer for older individuals. Do you want to start your own training? Then you are at the right place. This hands-on tool for your business initiative as a Digital Scout gives you information on important aspects that need to be considered when setting up such a training offer:

- Design with a participatory approach
- Develop meaning and purpose
